The Westlake University’s school of Medicine holds a heartfelt vision: to train the next generation of “top physician-scientists.” These individuals will not only be skilled clinicians but also researchers exploring the unknown. Rooted in rigorous biomedical research training, they will navigate seamlessly between basic research and clinical practice, advancing medicine with innovative thinking. The school focuses on numerous frontier areas related to human well-being, including microbiology and vaccines, immunology and inflammation, physiology and metabolism, tumor biology and treatment, medical genetics, rare diseases, drug research and development, public health, clinical medicine and other related research fields.
Westlake University and the Hangzhou Municipal Health Commission signed a collaborative agreement to jointly establish the Hangzhou First People’s Hospital as an affiliate of the Westlake University School of Medicine, with the goal of creating a new model of academic hospital that bridges research and clinical care.
At the School of Medicine, basic research and clinical practice will advance together, encouraging collaboration and innovation. We are building a leading center for medical education and research, and developing our own distinctive model. With steady commitment, we aim to support medical progress in China and worldwide, helping improve health for everyone in the long run.
