偶尔去治愈，时常去帮助，总是去安慰。
这是一位医生的墓志铭。
在北美洲的撒拉纳克湖畔，长眠着爱德华·特鲁多医生，一百多年来，常有同行来拜谒，并重温这句话。
特鲁多还是一个医学生的时候，被确诊为肺结核，当时是不治之症。25岁的他，只身来到撒拉纳克湖畔，安静等待死神降临。没想到，大自然缓解了病情，让他恢复了体力和心情。他回到城市，完成了博士学位。
此后，他建立了美国第一个肺结核研究实验室，并成为美国第一个分离出结核杆菌的人。他是一位病人，一位医生，也是一位结核病研究的先驱。
1915年，67岁的特鲁多医生死于肺结核，结核分枝杆菌和他相伴了一生。他对病人生理和心理上的许多人性化的照料方法，至今仍被沿用着。
这就是医学。
医学不仅需要科学精神，更需要人文关怀。如罗素所言，对知识的不可遏制的探寻，以及对人类苦难不可遏制的同情。
故事还在继续。现在，生长中的西湖大学医学院，以培养医师科学家为目标，正在寻找临床学科带头人，在全球范围内，诚邀充满激情和创新精神的复合型领军人才加盟。

西湖大学医学院成立于2023年10月，以培养顶尖医师科学家为目标，致力于医学创新和临床转化，由中国科学院院士、国际知名免疫学专家董晨受邀担任首任院长。同年11月，西湖大学与杭州市卫生健康委员会签订合作协议，杭州市第一人民医院正式成为西湖大学医学院附属医院。同时，医学院临床医学相关的其它各类医教研平台正在积极筹建中。

申请人须持有医学博士（M.D.）学位，并具备：
1.突出的临床专业技术能力以带领团队提供一流医疗服务；
2.本领域内深厚的学术影响力及创新能力以指导学科进行突破性学术研究；
3.突出的领导能力和教学经验以支持学科人才培养及教学体系搭建；
4.卓越的战略眼光及业内资源以促进国内外跨学科合作。

About us
Westlake University is a new type of non-profit research-oriented university in Hangzhou, China, supported by public and private funding. Preceded by the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study, Westlake University is creating a stimulating, world-class environment for research and education in science, engineering and technology, life sciences, and medicine.
Established in October 2023, the Westlake University School of Medicine is dedicated to advancing medical innovations by nurturing physician-scientists and fostering bench-to-bedside translational sciences. Dr. Chen Dong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and esteemed immunologist, is the founding dean of the school.
About this opportunity
The School of Medicine is currently seeking visionary leaders to join both the school and its affiliated hospitals/institutions as clinical chiefs. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing discipline-related strategic plans that align with the University’s and school's missions and goals; conducting cutting-edge clinical and translational research with global impact; training top physician-scientists; and guiding the discipline to attain or exceed advanced standards.
Successful candidates will enjoy generous support of both the school and its affiliated hospitals/institutions to actively engage in clinical practice, scientific research, and talent nurturing.
